You forgot to take notice of the original letter that Matt posted on his site, that these animals are being killed, and it needs to stop. Of course responsible pet ownership is a topic, but do you really think that the problem in Southern Florida is due to unwanted pets being released? If you believe that then you are very mistaken. It is obvious that you are somehow involved in the "Experiment" that is taking place at the Savannah Reserve. I believe that you have skewed the "test" so that you get the answers that you are looking for. Just look at the die off of invasive species that happened in Florida this winter, the weather experienced in Southern Florida is typical winter weather here in South carolina, so the proof is right in front of you. Again, responsible pet ownership should begin with the individual who wants an animal, as well as the individual or shop that sells the animal to a person. The people need to be educated on the animal, so that they can be certain that they will be able to care for the animal properly as it grows. But we need to stop killing the animals at the Savannah Reserve.

Some of this I could not have said better myself.
I do agree that there are a lot of uneducated people out there who purchase these snakes to be cool and not for the enjoyment, not realizing what it will be in two years.I do agree that there needs to be an easier way for people to "get rid" of their snakes if they can not handle it anymore. Instead of LETTING THEM GO!
However, I still do not agree with the experiment. Any snake owner knows, and every scientist SHOULD know that as soon as the temperature drops below 50 degrees they WILL die. The experiment is not being overseen by any third party so who is to say that they are not putting heaters in the ground so they can say that the snakes survived and get all the bans put into place. There has to be some kind of middle ground here. This is a multi-billion dollar industry. Peoples lives will be ruined if these bans are placed. What do you recommend?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; obviously there seems to be a issue. Some also thought they were nice snakes once, they became tired of them and then let them go into the wild. The experiment was to see what climate that these invader specials can live in. They are all over the place down in Florida, they eat everything, they are not natural and do not belong. They do not want this snake or any other invader species to spread and cause havoc in the environment. Lets be responsible with what we have, give your snakes to some one who is responsible and or other groups. Everything has its place, abusing the right to have exotics will become illegal ownership. Love your pets, if you do not care for them anymore surrender them or in worse case destroy them properly via veterinary practices. DO NOT LET THEM GO! Legislation could be next in making them illegal.

This is just outrageous. Why would u do that to such a beautiful creature? Of course they're gonna die! They're captive bred and like matt said once it reaches 50, thats death right there!
