Ball Pythons are without a doubt the best of the constrictors to own. Even the professional or expert snake owner, handler or breeder has at least on in their repertoire.
There are numerous reason for this.

- They are relatively inexpensive to own and maintain. Our Ball Pythons for Sale are $59.00. You will only need a 30 to 50 gallon tank to house you Ball Python throughout maturity. A heat source will be needed to maintain the temperature in your enclosure. A light source to light the enclosure and a water bowl for fresh water will also be needed. Your start up cost including your snake will probably only cost you about 2 to 3 hundred dollars depending on what type of enclosure you want. Going forward you will only spend about 20 to 30 dollars a month for feeding.

- They stay relatively small. Ball Pythons will not grow longer than 5 feet and that’s a large Ball Python. They will get about 2 to 2 ½ inches wide and weigh about 3 to 5 lbs full grown. Easy to handle for the whole family. Our Ball Pythons for Sale are 16 to 24 inches and are about 1 inch wide.

- Finally, due their docile nature they rarely ever bite or even snap at their handler. I have personally owned Ball Pythons for 20 years and have been bit once and that was because I thought I was quick enough to grab a water bowl out of a cage where I had just placed a rat. SFE (Stupid Feeding Error)

If you are ready to own a Ball Python check out our Ball Pythons for Sale page or if you are interested in any other snake check our Snakes for Sale page. As always if you have any other questions or concerns please contact me. I would love to answer any question you may have.

Will my snake bite me?

All animals have mouths and teeth and have the ability to bite and snakes are no different. Depending on the type of snake you choose will determine the likelihood of a bite. Also the more you handle your snake as a youngster, the less likely you will be bit. Most bites though are not intended to harm just to let you know it does not like what you are doing.

Does my Python or Boa have venom?

Absolutely not!! No constrictors have venom but they do have teeth (no fangs). In the event of a bite you will have some scratches that will bleed but nothing life threatening. However if you own a very large Burmese or Reticulated python…they can do some damage.

How long will my snake be?

Depends of the variety. You can get some snakes that full grown will only be 4 to 6 feet. Others can grow as big as 25 feet. (Burmese Pythons, Reticulated Pythons and Anacondas). All of which are not recommended for beginners.

What do snakes eat?

Anything from “fuzzy” mice to rabbits or chickens. All depends on the size and breed of your snake.

How often do snakes eat?

Again this depends on the breed of snake. Most snakes as youngsters will eat once or twice a week. As your snake matures and begins to eat larger prey they will begin to eat once every two weeks. There are times when your snake will not…during molting (shedding) many varieties will refuse food, while breeding or pregnant many females will go months without eating.

Do snakes come from eggs?

Most snakes and reptiles do come from eggs but here are a few varieties such as the Red Tailed Boas who give live birth.

Do reptiles get sick?

Yes, just like all animals they can get sick. There are numerous types of sicknesses such as but not limited to, parasites, mites, mouth rot and a number of stomach issues that are usually caused by incorrect feeding. Make sure you know what vets will take care of Reptiles as not all do.

Is my snake a boy or girl?

The only 100% positive way to sex a snake is to take it to a vet or a certified herpetologist and have it probed.

Do snakes use the bathroom?

Yes, usually 2 or 3 days after feeding snakes will use the bathroom including urine and feces.

How often do you have to clean the cage?

You should spot clean your cage as your snake uses the bathroom and completely clean the cage at least on every two months.

If I breed my snake how many eggs or babies will it have?

Breeding is not easy and takes a lot of care. If you do have a successful “clutch” depending on the species you can have anywhere from 10 to 60 young.

Do all snakes shed?

Yes, all snakes shed. As youngsters they may shed up to once a week but as they mature it will usually be once a month.
