A baby Rainbow docile seriously????? As a baby they tend to bit, nip and are not at all “docile” BUT BUT they do tend to grow out of it. A baby Rainbow is not for the beginner even if they are BEAUTIFUL. Sorry ive just seen to many of these babies returned, killed, or even let go because everyone looks and sees an Amazing snake which they are “after” understanding them
That may be your experience with the Brazilian Rainbows but we have bred these animals for several years and have never had a problem with them. This is a hobby for my family and I and all my family has handled these snakes including my 5 month old son and not even a nip. I understand that everyone has had their own experiences with snakes and we all have our own opinion but at Exotic Reptiles we choose to base our opinions on our experiences and these are great “docile” animals…Even as babies.
I just purchased the last remaining Brazilian Rainbow Boa from ExoticReptiles at the Repticon show in Charlotte, NC. So far she has been wonderful to handle and has not nipped or bit me or any member of my family. My 18 year old son and my 7 year old daughter have both held her without any issues. My wife even held her while we were at the show and the snake was very docile and friendly.
it really depends on the genetics. i have handled dang near every animal you could think of and its really based on the parents and the pheromones that you are giving off believe it or not they can consciously sense them while we cant. you have to have the right demeanor to go pick up a wild snake and not get tagged which not many people have that skill i am the only person i know personally.
i have heard good and bad about the rainbow boa. i have now and have had many of them i do sometimes get a hiss on first approach but have yet to be bitten by one. they do seem to be very docile and are easy to handle yet at the same time dont seem to settle down as quickly as some of the other choice pet snakes such as the ball python or redtails. although a beginner would likely have no problem with the rainbow boa. i have found it to more of a workout holding some of them than many of my other snakes.
